Here are some great and useful tips for moving into an apartment for the new year.

Easily Load Furniture with Handles

If your drawers have handles or knobs that stick out, unscrew them and place the handles on the inside. This is a great way to easily pack furniture and prevent the hard handles from damaging or scratching other items during the move. Keep in mind you can also use drawers to safely pack other smaller items during the move, like special linens or fragile items.

Color Code Boxes

Keeping everything organized is difficult and knowing what box goes where is harder when you don’t have a system in place when moving in to your new apartment. Buy color code stickers easily available at any home retail store and place them on the boxes corresponding to each room. When you move into your new apartment  you’ll know immediately which box goes where.

Use your Towels and Sheets

Ins certain circumstances you can easily and safely wrap and pad fragile items with towels and linens. Fold the towels twice over, and place one on top of the item and one on the bottom for extra coverage. Need sturdier packing materials? Shop with us.

Measure Each Room

To ensure everything fits inside your new living spaces take accurate measurements of each room in your new apartment to find out what you can fit inside the rooms before you start moving your furniture. This is especially true if you’re downsizing to smaller living spaces. Compare those figures to the dimensions of your furniture. You should also take inventory of how much storage you have for things like clothes, shoes and winter items. If space is limited you may need a new cabinet or dresser.

Optimize Your Space

Your new space may be smaller, but there are different things you can do to optimize and get the most out of your space. Use walls to install things like shelves for storage and hanging items. Buy multipurpose furniture like ottomans and other hollow seating you can use as storage. Placing love seats and chairs in the middle of the room will make your space seem larger as well.
